About BARC

BARC refers to Bhabha Atomic Research Centre. It was established by Dr Homi Jehangir Bhabha, under the name Atomic Energy Establishment, Trombay (AEET) in 1954, with the aim of research to further the nuclear program in India. After his unfortunate demise in 1966, the establishment was renamed as Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC). BARC has opened applications for BARC recruitment through GATE 2022.

BARC is one of the largest research and development institutes in India. It carries out research on nuclear and accelerator technologies, nuclear power production, materials technology, electronics and instrumentation. For their two kinds of recruitments, BARC has release notification regarding BARC recruitment through GATE 2022. 

OCES: BARC conducts an orientation course for engineering graduates and science postgraduates (OCES). It is a one-year training programme conducted at the BARC training schools.

DGFS: BARC also has a graduate fellowship programme called DGFS, (DAE Graduate Fellowship Scheme) for Engineering Graduates and Physics Post- Graduates. Candidates who have secured admission to the OCES program in BARC training school and have also been admitted in M.Tech/M.Chem. Engg, are paid a stipend and also the tuition fees to pursue their M.Tech/ M. Chem. Engg degree while keeping their positions at the DAE. BARC looks to recruit engineers at the M.Tech/ M/Chem. Engineering level. The scheme is in collaboration with eight IITs, and this also helps BARC in strengthening the research-education links of the Department of Atomic Energy (DAE) with premier institutions, as per DAE’s area of interest.

Eligibility Criteria for BARC Recruitment through GATE 2022

Education-

• Applicants should have passed their qualifying degree with at least 60% marks.
• Applicants who are required to have a valid GATE 2022 or GATE 2022 score in the same stream of engineering as their qualifying degree discipline.
• Non- GATE applicants may also apply by appearing for an online test. 
• Candidates who are awaiting their final results, or are appearing for GATE in 2022, and have met the rest of the eligibility criteria, can also apply. The mark sheet of the final result should be submitted by November 30th, 2022 (tentative), for OCES, and as per the rules and regulations of the specific institute for DGFS.

Age Criteria-

• For the general category, the age limit is 26 years
• For OBC category the age limit is 29 years
• For SC/ST the age limit is 31 years
• Physically Challenged applicants have an age relaxation of 10 years.

Application Process for BARC Recruitment through GATE 2022

• Interested applicants need to visit the official website and register by filling in the details like their name, mother’s name, email-id, DOB and choosing a login id.
• Once registered, applicants must log in, and fill up their academic qualifications along with their personal details.
• Once the details are filled, candidates need to upload their recent photographs, passport sized (4.5x 3.5 cm) in the JPG format (size not greater than 50 kb), and also a scanned copy of their signatures. (2x4.5 cm, in JPG format and not greater than 20 kb)
• Applicants applying through their GATE 2022 score, need to fill in the GATE exam details and score, once they have received the score.
• If applicants are applying through GATE 2022, then they need to upload their GATE score during the application process itself.
• Candidates who wish to apply through the online test, should opt for that option while filling the form. 

Application fee and form submission-

• The application fee is Rs. 500 along with some bank charges (if applicable).
• The application fee is waived for women applicants, SC/ST/PWD.
• The application fee can be paid online through net banking/ debit card/ credit card/ bank challan through the SBI Payment Gateway.
• Applicants need to enter their details Login ID, Name, Father’s name, DOB, and their registered mobile number on the Gateway page. The details entered here should be the same as the BARC application form.
• For payment through the challan, applicants need to download the Challan on the payment gateway, and then they need to go and make the payment at any of the SBI branches.
• Once the payment has been made, applicants must wait for three days to get a payment verification. Once the payment is verified, the applicant will receive a mail from BARC.
• Once the applicant has received the mail, they need to login to their application and complete the final submission.
• If applicants do not receive the mail, then after three working days they should get in touch with the helpdesk.
• If an applicant is unable to complete the final submission, their applications will not be accepted.

Selection Criteria for BARC Recruitment through GATE 2022

The selection to the OCES/DGFS will be on the basis of two steps.

First candidates will be screened either on their GATE scores (where applicable) or the Online Test.

After the screening, the shortlisted candidates will be called for a personal interview and the final list of selected candidates will be declared after the interview.

Salary Structure for BARC Recruitment through GATE 2022

Details of the 2022 salary structure are announced. Here’s all you need to know.

OCES candidates were paid a stipend of Rs. 35,000 per month, for their training period. The DGFS fellows were paid a stipend of Rs. 20,000 per month during the M. Tech.

Both OCES and DGFS candidates will receive a one-time book allowance of Rs. 10,000 and the DGFS fellows will receive the reimbursement of the tuition that they paid to their institutes for the M. Tech./M. Chem. Engg course.

Till last year, raising the DGFS stipend to Rs. 35,000 per month was in consideration.
