Baldoria: The mega dance event of the MAIMS

Baldoria, the mega dance event of the Maharaja Agrasen Institute of Management Studies (MAIMS) was organised for the first time by the Dance Society of the college. The two day event was a huge success.

 

 It was organised to celebrate the fervour and spirit of dance. Dance is the language of body; it is a means of depicting what you feel and how you feel through mere body movements endowed with great precision and beauty. And that is what happened when students, all over the country from Baldoria saw participation of groups and individuals with great calibre from different colleges. The show was judged by Yash Khatri of Rahgiri fame. The event kick started with a performance by the classical dancers Shraddha and This was followed by a performance of the Musical Rock Band of Akash Kher, the nephew of Kailash Kher. They gave a mind-blowing performance and even sang a self composed song dedicated to the December 16 Gang rape incident which touched the hearts of the whole audience.

 

This was then followed by the performance of the official dance teams of the college: THE BHANGRA KNIGHTS & URBAN HOPPERS. The star of the show Manan Sachdeva, of DID fame who was also the judge of the show and The Fictitious Group performed; which enthralled the crowd.

 

This was followed by a group dance competition where teams from colleges of various universities performed. Many groups chose society sensitive themes for their performances like homosexuality and women empowerment & some even performed the modern dance styles like hip-hop, jazz, tapping and contemporary. The next event was solo/ duet dance, where students enthralled the crowd with their mind-boggling numbers.

 

The next day of the fest had street dance & cypher. In street dance, groups performed on the street style dance form and there were also battles between the groups where they danced one-on-one. Cypher; which means dance battles between individuals, saw students performing against one another in different forms like hip-hop, locking & popping and tutting. At the end, the judge of the show, Vineet, who is an esteemed choreographer too performed.

 

The show was a great success and it was all possible because of the Maharaja Agrasen Dance Society (M.A.D.S) and the college faculty.
