Atharva 2014: Quiz event by TAPMI

Quiz on the Beach (QOTB) in its 11th edition conducted by  T A Pai Management Institute, Manipal (TAPMI)-Atharva, held at the picturesque Kapu Beach on February 1, 2014, created waves. Quiz master Dr. Navin Jay Kumar of the Landmark Quiz fame and Mr. Anustubh Datta, the finale resulted in a culmination of 5 months of quizzing extravaganza consisting of online rounds and city qualifiers in Mumbai, Bangalore and Chennai. Over 700 participants from across the globe competed for the prizes worth Rs 13.00 lakhs.

The esteemed Chief Guest for the evening was the Superintendent of Police of Udupi district, Dr. M.B. Boralingaiah. The other guests of honor for the event were Mr. Annamalai, Assistant Superintendent of Police, Mr. Prakash Gurumoorthy, Managing Director, India at Group FM, Mr. Mohan Narayanan founder and CEO of Kubos Consultancy and Mr. Ashwin Raghuraman, COO India Innovation Fund. There was a footfall match of 800 people at the Kaup Beach.

The team that came first and walked away with Rs.6 Lakhs was “Beasts at the Back” which consisted of participants Arvind V and Siddharth from BMS College of Engineering (BMSCE) and St. Joseph's College of Commerce (SJCC), Bangalore respectively. Aditya Bagri and Saransh V from S. P. Jain Institute of Management and Research (SPJIMR), Mumbai came second and won prize money of Rs. 3.00 Lakhs.Ranjivravi and Ajay Srinath from Indian School of Business (ISB), Hyderabad came third and won prize money ofRs. 1.5 Lakhs.

QOTB went international this year with an online round catering to a global audience. The winners of the International Round of QOTB were Adithya SriramSankaran and Shreyas Rajagopalan from ESCP, Europe. They won prize money of USD 500.

Overall, QOTB had participants from colleges across the world like Wichita State University, San Diego State University, National University of Singapore, ESCP Europe, BITS PILANI-Dubai, University of Houston, IIM Indore, Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS), Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies(NMIMS), National Institute of Industrial Engineering(NITIE), Mumbai, IIT Madras, IIM Bangalore and NITK Suratkal.
