24-year-old Ashish Patial, son of a sub-inspector of Chandigarh police, has topped the Management Aptitude Test (MAT) exam conducted by the All India Management Association (AIMA) by securing 800/800 score.

The exam was conducted in February. The results were declared on Sunday. The exam is conducted by AIMA four times a year for the admission to post graduate programmes in the field management.

More than 250 colleges in the country give admission on the basis of MAT score including a number of institutes in this region.

Patial works at a private firm in Zirakpur, which provides automation solution to companies. He did his schooling at a government school in sector 44-B and later a diploma from Indo-Swiss center, (CSIO) Chandigarh, which is equivalent to bachelor of engineering. The family hails from Kangra in Himachal Pradesh and his mother is a housewife. Patial has been working with various firms since 2009.

On his success, Patial said that he was preparing for the same for the past six months. "I would like to go for a good institute for the MBA programme and later join a reputed firm," Patial said giving credit for his success to his family and his hard work.

Bulls Eye, Chandigarh, regional head, Hirdesh Madan said that MAT score was valid for one year and was accepted by more than 250 colleges across India. "Nearly 1,500 students had appeared in the exam from Chandigarh and over 30,000 from all across the country," he said.
