ARTS STUDENTS..BE PROUD!

*AFTER CLASS X RESULTS*

“Which class,beta?”

“Class X,uncle”

“Which stream in class XI?”

“Uncle,humanities.”

“Humanities?”

“Uncle,arts.”

“No scope in arts,beta!You are intelligent,take science.”

Having had this conversation a countless number of times in class X,I fervently hoped that they would cease to exist after I would finally choose my desired stream in class XI.But boy,was I wrong.

In our society,the word ‘arts’ immediately conjures up the following adjectives in everyone’s minds:carefree,dull,idiot,timepass,average,and moreover:EASY.Having studied psychology too,I can safely say that arts is one of the toughest streams,where the students study science as well!

Just because it has low cut-offs doesn’t mean that all dumb students choose this stream!The truth is:ARTS NEEDS NO BRAINS…IT NEEDS TALENT!

This stream has a perennial future,whereas many other ‘revered’ streams can dry up some day.Its unfortunate that many meritorious,or should I say,studious students opt for science or commerce,who want to become engineers,doctors,or economists.This again,is a misconception.Many of my friends who want to become musicians,painters..some of them even authors!...had opted for these two streams in class XI.I am not exaggerating here!

In the end,it’s a person’s individual choice,which stream he/she wants to pursue.You don’t really need to care what people think about it.

“You see uncle,I was intelligent enough to take my own decisions.Thanks for the concern. J”
