Arena Animation, a leading animation institution of India, announced the successful conclusion of Orbit Live 2015. It was a four day talent festival where students were encouraged to let their creative juices flow and learn while making merry. More than 150 industry experts, top 100 animation studios and more than 300 Arena students attended the event. The event was inaugurated by Mr. Anuj Kacker, Executive Director, Aptech Ltd., and was graced with the presence of animation luminaries from across the world.
The event witnessed over 70 practical workshops, master classes and interactive sessions on the art and craft of film editing, principles of animation, digital media campaign (social media), 3D visualization and simulation, etc. These workshops were conducted by Indian and international industry luminaries. Arena students were mentored by industry experts & practitioners at live workshops & master classes and had the golden opportunity to undergo intense interactions with industry practitioners at workshops and get a chance to work on live industry projects. To add to the celebration of films, the best animation films from across the world were displayed during breakfast, in a special screening called ‘Breakfast Shorts’.
Mr. Mickael Marin, head of the International Animation Film Market of Annecy (MIFA) organized by CITIA said, “I have visited several countries for work. However, India has one of the most incredible countries that I have visited. Orbit Live 2015 is a great learning platform for students who want to make a big name in the creative industry. I am overwhelmed with the enthusiasm and potential of the participants here.”
“At Orbit Live, the students are given a chance to not only understand the specifics of the best animation works but also interact personally with animation experts and learn from their experiences. With the presence of some brilliant people from the industry in this year’s festival, we have taken the festival to another level. Students attend workshops, seminars & master classes conducted by industry experts from national & international studios,” said Mr. Anuj Kacker, Executive Director, Aptech Ltd., while delivering the welcome address.
During the festival, the participants got the opportunity to personally interact with international festival luminaries such as Mr. Mickael Marin, Head of the International Animation Film Market of Annecy (MIFA) organized by CITIA; Mr. Eugene Kim, Programmer, PISAF Festival, South Korea; Ms. Siobhan Fenton, Animex Festival, Director of Animex International Partnerships, Teesside University, UK; Ms. Penelope Holton, Deputy Section Head (Animation and Visual Effects), Senior Lecturer 3D Animation, Teesside University, UK; Mr. Thierry Dezarmenien, Zeilt Productions, Luxembourg and has Oscar Winning Animation Short Film 2014 - "Mr. Hublot" to his credit.
The festival ended with an awards night where animation and industry experts, and students with potential for excellence were felicitated.
