As many as 12,000 MBA seats will be on offer under the government quota in various educational institutions across the State, through the Postgraduate Common Entrance Test (PGCET), which will be conducted this month-end.

The test is being conducted by the consortium set up by the State government. Vice-Chancellor of Rani Channamma University B.R. Ananthan is the chairman and Executive Director of the Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA) Rame Gowda is the secretary.

President of the Association of Private Management Institutions of North Karnataka (APMINK) Vishwanath Korvi, along with office-bearers P.B. Roodagi, Shrinivas Patil and Ramakant Kulkarni, addressed presspersons here on Wednesday. He said that private managements had set up help desks at their respective institutions to guide students on filling online application forms on www.rcub.ac.in.

Prof. Korvi said the confusion and delay in conducting PGCET for the MBA course had been cleared with the formation of the consortium. All students from across the State, who wanted to pursue MBA and MCA courses should appear for the PGCET, he added.

He said that June 24 is the last date to fill the application forms. The PGCET would be conducted at 11 centres across the State and the centres for counselling would be announced later.

Prof. Roodagi said the PGCET would be held on June 30 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. for MBA aspirants and from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. for MCA aspirants. To a question, he said that last year several seats under the government quota had remained vacant owing to confusion regarding the PGCET and Common Management Admission Test (CMAT). As there was no confusion this year, all seats would be filled, he said. Prof. Roodagi clarified that those aspiring to get admission to the MBA course through the management quota should also write the PGCET as their rankings in any one of the national-level entrance tests would be considered for admission.
