As the month of April commenced, you possibly had just two things on your To-Do list – Internals and assignments. The known devils plague you, as you work feverishly to send in the overnight spouted assignment or prepare for the internals, trying to drill in 5 months knowledge in some hours. However, as the second week of April kicks in, the ‘Winding Up’ process begins.
Teachers wind up their syllabus, probably distributing some 10 or so assignments for you to peruse through, they wind-up the extensions for the assignments and you yourself swear fervently to wind up your procrastination techniques. I’m being quite nostalgic, eh?
The ‘Winding Up’ is an extremely personal experience, why, not everyone can feel it. For the newbies, it isn’t merely the passing of a year. It is when they have unleashed themselves and savoured unrestricted freedom. It is when they have experimented with themselves, forging a new self. They register exhilaration for successfully having passed a year at college despite numerous distractions. Yet, it is a bitter realisation of missing school dearly, especially at the time of the Boards.
For the extremely unlucky second years, fondly called the Guinea pigs, it has been a packed year. Having had to cover up for missed a lot during their first year; it was a hard time managing everything, from the freshers to the impending farewell. However, more work does mean more fun, right?
For the third years, it is a nostalgic moment. As they prepare to graduate from their respective colleges, it is indeed hard to leave every forged bond behind, with almost everyone, from the guards to the canteen staff. They have spent three years of their lives; every place or thing evokes strong emotions from almost everyone. A long journey it has been, indeed, a rich and experimental journey!
How weird is the fact that ‘Winding Up’ is the most painful, yet the desirable and inevitable task. At one point, we all wish to wind up our lives as such and try to do something out of the box. Winding up brings about change; however, it depends on who we respond to it.
