The ‘4th National Innovation Summit - 2022’ was hosted enthusiastically at Aditya Group of Institutions, Mumbai on February 17, 2022.
By expressing his regret as he couldn’t attend the summit, Shri Nitin Gadkari, Hon’ble Union Cabinet Minister of Road Transport, Highways and Shipping, Government of India, sent a video message, wishing best wishes for the success of the event. In his message Gadkari spoke passionately about Research, Innovation and Entrepreneurship. He stressed the need for social innovation and policy of inclusiveness to eradicate poverty. He briefly dwelled on the government’s focus on schemes such as Antyodaya Anna Yojana, Jan Dhan Yojana and Good Governance through e-Governance which are playing a crucial role in serving the poor and the needy.
A brief incident that he narrated was about his tour to London where he experienced a ride in a battery powered bus. The engineers present there mentioned that the bus ran on Lithium Ion batteries and the cost was INR 55 lakhs. Upon returning to India, Gadkari inquired with ISRO scientists who had researched on Lithium Ion batteries for space vehicles. The scientists responded positively to the minister’s suggestion of scaling down the cost of producing Lithium Ion batteries to mere five lakh rupees. This innovation if commercialized can result in huge savings in foreign exchange bill towards crude oil. So the next decade can herald the era of pollution free cars & bikes running on Lithium Ion batteries.
The summit started with the singing of National anthem and lighting of the auspicious lamp. Dr. Manoj Bhatia, Director, Aditya Institute of Management Studies gave the welcome speech. Ar. Aparna Surve, Principal, Aditya College of Architecture, explained the theme of the summit which was “Innovation, a Powerful Tool for Development & Change”.
