The Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) has announced that the eligibility criteria for admissions in the top engineering institutes i.e. IITs, NITs, IIITs and CFITs have been revised.
The announcement was made on the official website of the HRD ministry. It suggests that aspirants seeking admission in the IITs/NITs/ IIITs and other CFTIs must score at least 75% marks in 10+2 apart from scoring well in JEE or be in the top 20 percentile in the Class 12 board exam.
SC/ST applicants will be given relaxation of 10%, Therefore, they will have to score a minimum of 65% in the 12th class exam to be eligible to apply in the IITs/NITs/ IIITs and such other CFTIs.
It was recently in the news that MHRD had recommended the Central Seat Allocation Board (CSAB) to make certain changes in the eligibility criteria for admissions to NITs.
Candidates must note that these changes will not be implemented in the IITs/NITs/ IIITs and such other CFTIs admissions for the academic year 2022. Candidates’ JEE ranks will be considered for admission.
